Learn what makes the Banpresto Dragon Ball Super Grandista Nero Super Saiyan 3 Son Goku figure a great value, who it fits best, and the key trade-offs to consider before buying.
Quick answer
The Dragon Ball Super Grandista Nero Super Saiyan 3 Son Goku is a high-value, mid-sized Banpresto statue with impressive styling for its price, ideal for collectors who want a detailed figure without spending premium dollars.
What the Grandista Nero line offers
Banpresto's Grandista Nero series balances size and cost. Figures typically stand around 10-11 inches tall, which is larger than standard prize figures but smaller than premium sixth-scale statues. This SS3 Goku continues that approach, delivering a detailed sculpt and dynamic pose at a price point well below high-end collectibles.
The main trade-off is material and finish. Grandista Nero figures use painted PVC with simpler shading than resin statues. Expect crisp lines and vibrant colors, but not the layered airbrushing or fabric textures found on figures that cost several times more.
Display considerations
At its size, this Goku statue needs a shelf depth of at least 8 inches and height clearance of 12 inches to accommodate the spiky SS3 hair. The figure's dynamic pose means it looks best on an open shelf where the silhouette is visible from multiple angles.
It pairs well with other Grandista Nero Dragon Ball figures if you want a cohesive display. But the style and scale differ from smaller Banpresto World Collectible Figure (WCF) statues or larger resin pieces, so mixing lines can look inconsistent.
Decision rules for buying this statue
- Scale check: Measure your shelf space. The figure needs about 12 inches of height clearance due to the SS3 hair, and 8 inches of depth for the dynamic pose. If your shelf is smaller, this statue will not fit comfortably.
- Budget vs. premium: At under $30, this is a value buy. If you expect resin-level paint gradients or fabric textures, you will be disappointed. If you want a solid, well-posed figure at a low price, this is a top pick. Set your expectation to prize-figure quality with above-average size and sculpting.
- Collection consistency: This statue matches other Grandista Nero Dragon Ball figures in style and scale. It does not match smaller WCF figures or larger resin statues. Decide if you want a unified line or are okay with a mix.
- Pose preference: SS3 Goku has a wide, action-oriented stance. If you prefer museum-style standing poses or need the figure to fit inside a tight detolf shelf, this may be too dynamic for your display. Consider a more compact or neutral-pose figure if space is tight.
