Compare the Super7 Power Rangers Ultimates King Sphinx and Putty Patroller on sculpt, accessories, and army-building potential to decide which villain figure fits your shelf.
Quick answer
Choose the King Sphinx figure if you want a detailed, display-ready villain with a signature weapon; choose the Putty Patroller if you want to build a squad of Rita's foot soldiers. Both are 7-inch-scale Ultimates with premium paint and articulation, so your decision comes down to whether you prioritize a centerpiece character or army-building.
Sculpt and presence: centerpiece vs. troop builder
King Sphinx is an Egyptian-inspired monster with a highly detailed sculpt and premium paint deco, making him a natural focal point on a villain shelf. The Putty Patroller is designed as a generic foot soldier; its sculpt serves to look uniform alongside other Putties rather than to stand out individually. If you display one figure per character, King Sphinx delivers more visual impact. If you want to recreate a scene with multiple enemies, the Putty Patroller's uniform look works in your favor.
Accessories and play value
King Sphinx comes with interchangeable heads and hands plus his Sphinx Scepter, giving you multiple display options and a recognizable prop. The Putty Patroller's accessory loadout is not specified in the catalog, so treat that as an open question if accessories matter to you. For dynamic poses or photography, King Sphinx's included options provide more variety out of the box.
Army-building and value
The Putty Patroller is priced slightly higher than King Sphinx in the catalog, but its value comes from multiples: a single Putty is a background figure, while three or four create a patrol. King Sphinx is a one-and-done purchase that anchors a display. Neither figure includes option types like alternate costumes, so you are choosing between depth (one character with extras) and breadth (several identical soldiers).
Key trade-offs to weigh
- Display impact vs. scene-building: King Sphinx offers a detailed, Egyptian-inspired sculpt that stands out on its own; the Putty Patroller is a generic foot soldier that looks best in numbers. If you display single characters, pick King Sphinx; if you pose battle scenes, buy Putties.
- Accessory variety vs. uniformity: King Sphinx includes interchangeable heads, hands, and a scepter; the Putty Patroller's accessories are not listed, so you may need to check the product page for specifics. For out-of-the-box posing options, King Sphinx is the safer choice.
- One centerpiece vs. multiple troops: At similar prices, one King Sphinx gives you a complete character, while one Putty Patroller is only a start—plan to buy at least two or three to create a patrol. Budget for multiples if you choose the Putty Patroller.
